PLEASE NOTE: Thank you everyone for your generosity! The GoFundMe campaign surpassed it’s goal of $20,000. We have closed the campaign; if you would still like to donate, you can do so on the “Supporting BOTP” page.

Dear Bloom of the Present Sangha,
We hope this letter finds you relatively safe if not quite shaken by the latest events that have afflicted our community. We’re living through a deep and thorough teaching on Impermanence. Unfortunately, the consequences have been quite catastrophic for many around us, and not the least our beloved teacher Carla Brennan and her partner Chris Willett. As you probably already know, they lost their house in Ben Lomond with all their belongings to the CZU Lightning Complex wildfire in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Right away the BOTP Guiding Circle got together and a GoFundMe page was created to raise funds for Carla and Chris. Here is the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/wildfire-home-loss-aid-for-carla-and-chris
However, if you would rather continue to donate through the BOTP website Paypal account, be assured that the whole amount (minus the Paypal 3% fee) will be transferred to Carla. http://bloomofthepresent.org/generosity-supporting-bloom-of-the-present/
Carla emphasized that they didn’t need meals but digital gift cards sent online (email@example.com) would also be quite welcome. Her new temporary address is : 2926 Scriver Street, Santa Cruz 95062. I’m sure she’d love to hear from you.
As a Sangha, we aspire to support one another, especially in times of need. Many of you have surely had to evacuate and maybe some of you, we’re not aware of, have also lost your home. Please do not hesitate to contact one of us listed at the end of this letter and we’ll do our best to help out in whatever way is needed.
Over the years and through many changes, our Sangha has always been wonderfully responsive to support our teacher and we know that this time will not be different. Gratitude to all of you whose big hearts and generosity have sustained BOTP and Carla in the past.
May we look forward to the rebuilding of Carla’s and Chris’s home and of our community at large.
May our practice sustain us through these challenging times.
Much Metta to all,
Isabelle Rosenlund, Chair, Bloom of the Present Guiding Circle
